For too many in our community, home is not a guarantee. The gap between rising housing costs and low wages continues to grow, leaving thousands on the brink of homelessness and hundreds more without a place to stay. But you can help change that. You can help ensure people in our community have a safe, stable support system to help them find a path home.
For 40 years, Father Bill’s & MainSpring (FBMS) has opened its shelter doors to anyone in need. Our two emergency shelters in Brockton and Quincy, on average, shelter approximately 260 people each night, and serve nearly 2,000 individuals annually. This response, while compassionate, does not adequately or efficiently meet the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors or the community at-large. COVID-19 has only underscored the need to re-imagine the current shelter response.
